Community Development Initiatives

Arkansas locals lobby for immigration reform April 10th in Washington DC, members were trained on how to speak to congressman and carried out congressional visits.

As Arkansas immigrants and partners move to seek positive change in their communities, AUCC utilizes guided practice, an approach that emphasizes learning-by-doing, enabling immigrants to develop and put newly acquired ideas, tools and techniques into practice on specific initiatives of their choosing. As a result, the experiences and learning stay within the immigrant communities. AUCC also offers organizing training and technical assistance to project-related service providers so that they too can incorporate empowerment strategies into their own work, creating an important multiplier effect.
